Short Term/Long Term BrianPOP: With BrainPOP being an interactive website software, a large majority of maintenance problems will be handled by the company itself. BrainPOP has a technical support page that includes a long list of trouble shooting problems that could possibly occur when using the program. Among this list there is also an option to contact the company directly with any additional concerns or problems that did not appear on the list. Any short term or long term maintenance problems with the actual BrainPOP program will be handled through them.
Short Term/Long Term District: As far as maintenance through the district, they will be responsible for any maintenance problems that occur with the network connections to the internet, and any additional problems due to the hardware necessary for viewing and hearing the video clips. In addition, all teachers will be asked to introduce the program to their students as well as having their students complete the district Acceptable Use Policy. Without signing this contract no student will be allowed on the computers, and therefore not be able to participate in any individual assignments through the use of BrainPOP.
Trouble Shooting Strategies: If there is ever a problem with the actual BrainPOP program itself, teachers will be directed to reference their Technology Maintenance page or contact the company directly. All other problems with internet connection or hardware should be brought directly to the attention of the district IT Team. The procedures for contacting the district IT Team is to submit a Tech Fix ticket, and it will be handled promptly.
Recycling/Replacement Timeline: Due to BrainPOP being a website, there is no recycling of products that will need to be taken care of. As for replacement timelines, BrainPOP is offered through yearly subscriptions, therefore each year the subscription would have to be renewed. I believe that this is a great feature about BrainPOP, because if you find that the program just is not doing what it was intended to do than the subscription would not have to be renewed. This is strictly a year to year contract program.
